03 Road thru Larches

As expected, Chicago did get snowed in and the stop over flight cancelled...but what resulted is me getting a direct flight to London Heathrow. Too cool! Had to catch a coach ride and while cruising through the thick, wet English fog, there were fat fluffy sheep grazing on the grassy banks along the freeway leading to London Gatwick airport. Almost as if small puffs of clouds landed here and there. I had a sensation of the left/right brain switch phenonomen passing exits such as Chersey Waybridge, Dartford and Portsmouth Hollow. Not only was the coach on the 'opposite' side of the road, even the passing fast lane was far left, with slower traffic near the center divider.

Having a little time before boarding the flight to Marseille, I got a little hungry but didn't expect much from the airport concessions.  Surprise - ate the best sandwich from a Texas style cafe called the Armadillo grill; an open faced Jack and Tuna melt, served on crunchy toasted grain bread with the assurance that they they use pole and line caught tuna to ensure sustainability...blended with fresh green onion, roasted red pepper and melted Jack cheese topper - can't remember having anything that good in a while!

My family greeted me at Marseille and Pietro drove 3 more hours east towards the French Alps where they live not far from a village called Larches. This is what I woke up to the next morning...from my bedroom window.

Couldn't believe such beauty from these majestic mountains...breath taking!!
